Aberdares National Park
The Aberdare Range is an isolated volcanic mountain range located on the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley. Stretching nearly 100 kilometers from north to south, it lies between Nairobi and Thomson’s Falls, and is known for its rich, reddish volcanic soil.
The lower slopes of Aberdare National Park are blanketed in dense forests with towering trees, which gradually transition into lush bamboo zones at higher elevations. Above 3,000 metres, the scenery shifts dramatically to expansive alpine moorland, characterized by open grasslands, giant heathers, and unique high-altitude flora.
