Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania, is a scenic savannah park known for its diverse landscapes and incredible wildlife revival. Once heavily impacted by human settlement, the park has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now home to all of the Big Fivelions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos.

The park’s terrain features open plains, rolling hills, lakes, wetlands, and woodlands, offering varied habitats for wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and over 500 bird species. Lake Ihema, the largest in the park, is ideal for boat safaris, where you can spot aquatic wildlife and birds up close.

Today, Akagera is a conservation success story and a top destination for classic game drives, birdwatching, and nature lovers seeking Rwanda’s wild side beyond the gorillas.
