Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment in northern Tanzania, is a compact but diverse wildlife haven. It’s famously known for its tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos, and the scenic Lake Manyara, which dominates much of the park’s area. The park’s varied landscapes include groundwater forests, open savannah, marshes, and acacia woodland—supporting a wide range of wildlife such as elephants, buffalos, giraffes, hippos, and over 400 bird species.
Despite its smaller size, Lake Manyara offers rich biodiversity and beautiful scenery, making it an ideal stop on the northern safari circuit. Its lush forests and tranquil lakeside views provide a refreshing contrast to the vast plains of nearby Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
