Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
A declared UNESCO World Heritage site thanks to its Afromontane lowland nature, Bwindi is the most biologically diverse forest in Uganda. Located in the southwestern part of Uganda, the forest extends over a series of steep ridges in the Virunga Volcanoes mountain range.
Albeit having the mountain gorilla as its major attraction, Bwindi is home to several endangered animal species among them the chimpanzee, L’Hoest monkey and the African elephant. Forming part of the larger Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, It also boasts of more than 160 species of Lush trees and 100 species of ferns.
